Cotton velvet is natural cotton woven with a short plush pile. It's significantly softer than synthetic (polyester) velvet, deeply pigmented, and ages beautifully with use. Most mass-market velvet bags use synthetic velvet because it's cheaper to produce; we use cotton velvet because it feels different in the hand, holds colour better, and improves with age rather than wearing through.
