The Mouse Tiger Collection is our most graphic print — minimalist tiger silhouettes laid against bold colour blocks, drawn in a style that nods to mid-century Indian textile illustration. The result is a print that feels at once retro and refreshingly contemporary. Where our other prints are heritage and ornate, Mouse Tiger is clean, confident, and a little playful. (Looking for the heritage tiger, the one from the Tibetan rugs? That's the Tibetan Tiger — its story is here.)
Handmade in Rajasthan from soft cotton, quilted with sturdy lining, the collection spans six pieces across our weekender, tote, and travel set ranges.
Mid-century Indian textile design has a particular look: simplified motifs, geometric backgrounds, confident colour. Designers like K.G. Subramanyan and Riten Mozumdar reimagined traditional Indian iconography through a modernist lens, building textile work that took heritage motifs and stripped them down to their essential silhouette.
Mouse Tiger sits in that tradition. The tiger — a recurring motif in Indian textile and folk art for centuries — is rendered here as a clean silhouette in soft printed ink, laid against muted earth-tone grounds. The proportions are slightly comic, the lines deliberately rough-edged. It's a print that reads "mid-century India" with confidence, without copying any single source.
The Mouse Tiger Collection includes:
All pieces are handmade from natural cotton and lined with cotton inside. The cotton softens with use, the print holds its colour for years, and the irregular hand-print registration is the proof of skilled craft.
Mouse Tiger suits people who like a print that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's bold without being heavy, graphic without being loud, heritage-inspired without being literal. The collection works particularly well for:
Mouse Tiger reads as a tonal neutral when you pair it with cream linen, denim, white tees, or black. The graphic silhouette lifts a plain outfit. Avoid pairing with other bold prints (this is the bag-as-statement approach — let the bag carry the print).
For travel: the Mouse Tiger Weekender + Mouse Tiger Travel Set as a coordinated kit reads like you thought about it. Add a plain cotton tote (one of our cotton totes in cream or stripe) as your personal item and you have a complete three-piece carry-on system. Read more in The Carry-On Guide.
Every piece in the Mouse Tiger Collection is handmade in Rajasthan by our small circle of artisans. Each piece is slightly different from the next. You'll notice:
Slight irregularity in the tiger silhouettes — some lines slightly thicker, some placements slightly off-grid. That's the human hand placing each block by eye.
Small variations in colour saturation — the dye absorbs differently across the cotton, giving each piece its own character.
Soft-edged lines — the dye bleeds half a millimetre into the surrounding weave. Machine printing produces razor-sharp edges; handmade pieces have a softness that machine printing cannot replicate.
A minimalist tiger silhouette laid against bold colour blocks, drawn in a style influenced by mid-century Indian textile design. CYC's most graphic print, handmade in Rajasthan on soft cotton.
Currently the Mouse Tiger Collection is cotton only. The graphic silhouette works best on the cleaner cotton ground.
Six pieces total: a cotton tote, a cotton weekender, and a three-piece cotton travel set (small, medium, large nesting pouches).
50 × 23 × 33 cm — carry-on sized for most major airlines (BA, Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, Iberia, US carriers). See The Carry-On Guide for airline-by-airline size limits.
Yes — machine wash cool, line dry. The cotton softens with each wash and holds colour for years.
Cream linen, denim, white tees, black. The graphic print lifts a plain outfit. Avoid pairing with other bold prints — let the Mouse Tiger be the statement.
All pieces are handmade by named makers in Rajasthan, paid fairly. Cotton is natural fibre, machine-washable, designed to last years. 10% of profits to grassroots initiatives across India. Read our honest take in The Truth About Sustainable Fashion.
Each piece is slightly different — small variations are inherent to handmade pieces. Small variations in print registration, line weight, and colour saturation are part of the craft. The piece you receive is genuinely one of a kind.
