Where leopard comes from
Leopard is one of the oldest status symbols we have. Egyptian priests draped themselves in leopard as a mark of rank. Renaissance nobility had themselves painted beside big cats to borrow their power. By the twentieth century the skin had become a print, and the print had become shorthand for glamour with an edge — Christian Dior put it on a dress in 1947, Hollywood put it on its most magnetic women, and it has never really left.
What makes leopard endure is that it was never really about the animal. It's about confidence. A leopard print says the wearer has decided something about herself. That's why it crosses every decade and every wardrobe without ageing — it isn't a trend, it's a temperament.
We handmake ours in Rajasthan, each spot laid by hand rather than photo-stamped at industrial speed. Look closely at a CYC leopard and you'll see it: a slightly larger spot here, a touch of bleed there, a rosette that sank deeper into one weave than another. Mass-produced leopard is identical spot to spot. Ours isn't, on purpose — the small irregularities are how you know a human made it.
Leopard, in colours you didn't expect
For years leopard meant two things: high-contrast black-on-cream, and earthy brown. Classic, timeless, and — if we're honest — expected.
So we made it in colours leopard has never worn before.

Why leopard works
A few things to know if you're choosing your first one.
Leopard is a neutral in disguise. Pair it with all-black for evenings (the velvet especially reads as quietly luxurious), with denim and a white tee for daytime, or tonally — leopard with camel, cream or chocolate — for a considered, quiet look.
The colour changes the mood. Classic black-on-cream is graphic and bold; brown is soft and tonal; pink is playful; blue is cool; beige is the everyday neutral. Same print, five different personalities — choose the one that matches the room you walk into most.
Leopard ages beautifully. Hand-printed onto durable cotton or plush velvet, it softens with use rather than fading out. Worn five years in, it still reads as confidently classic.
How we make ours
The cotton is woven locally, the velvet is cotton-based and plush, the dyes are mixed in small batches, and every spot is placed by hand. Slight variation between bags is the signature of real handcraft, not a flaw — it's how you tell yours from a machine-printed copy.
