This is where we curate the best of what's currently discounted across the CYC range. End-of-season pieces, last-of-stock colourways, sample-sale finds, and occasional small irregularities — all the pieces you've been eyeing at prices that make today feel like the right day.
Sale items rotate frequently. Once a colourway is gone from the sale, it's usually gone for good (or back at full price next batch). If you've been holding off on a specific piece, this is the page worth bookmarking.
Four main reasons, none of them mean the piece is lower quality:
We launch seasonal colourways alongside our permanent range — a particular pink for spring, a particular green for summer, a particular plum for autumn. When the season ends, the remaining stock in that colourway goes into sale to clear the warehouse before the next season's release. The bag itself is identical in construction to its full-priced sister; just the colour is seasonal.
When a specific size or colour is down to its final few units, the price drops to clear the remaining stock. We could hold the inventory and wait for the next batch, but the slim margin between "almost sold out" and "completely sold out" is when discount makes most sense for both us and customers.
A few pieces in each batch have tiny irregularities that don't make them defective but make them imperfect by photographer's standards: a print misregistration slightly more visible than usual, a stitch line slightly off, a colour saturation marginally different from the batch. These are normal hand-craft variations — every CYC piece has some — but the more visible ones go into sale rather than being photographed as standard inventory.
Each sale piece with this kind of variation is listed honestly on the product page. The piece works perfectly; it just looks slightly different from a "perfect" example.
Occasionally we retire a print or a piece type — usually because we want to focus the catalog or because supplier issues make a particular material unavailable. When that happens, remaining stock goes to sale until everything clears.
To be transparent:
Not defective pieces. Anything with a genuine fault (broken seam, missing lining, hardware failure) doesn't go to sale — we replace those at our cost. Sale pieces are full-functioning bags, just discounted.
Not "lower quality" pieces. Same makers, same workshops, same handmade construction, same hand-quilting. The construction is identical to full-priced pieces.
Not "sample sale" gimmicks. If something is in sale, it's in sale because of one of the four reasons above — not because we're inflating prices and then "discounting" them.
A few tips from the team:
Move fast on full-price-quality pieces. If you see a permanent-range piece (like the Jungle Tote or Tibetan Tiger Tote) in sale in a colourway you love, it's usually because we're between batches and have small leftover stock. These tend to sell out quickly.
Be patient on seasonal colourways. If you don't love the specific colourway you see in sale, wait — next season's release is usually within 4-8 weeks and will have a new palette to pick from.
Read the product description for "small irregularity" notes. If a piece has a noted irregularity, the listing tells you what it is. Buy it knowing what you're getting — most customers love these because the irregularity is the proof of hand-craft.
Travel sets are the best sale value. Three-piece travel sets often appear in sale at 30-40% off — bigger discounts than bags. They make excellent gifts even bought at full price; in sale they're outstanding.
Standard CYC returns policy applies to sale items: 14 days from delivery, unused and in original packaging, return shipping is your responsibility unless the piece has a fault. The fact that something was on sale doesn't change your right to return it.
That said: sale pieces sometimes sell out before you can re-order if you change your mind, so if you're between two options, we recommend keeping the one you'd be happier with — they don't always restock.
For full transparency: CYC's sale discounts are real reductions from list price, not inflation-then-discount tactics. Sale items are typically 15-40% off list price. Beyond 40% would compress our margin too far to support fair pay for our makers, and that's the hard line we won't cross — sale prices have a floor, even when we're trying to clear stock fast.
