Two leopards, one print tradition

Leopard is one of the few prints that crosses every wardrobe — worn quietly by minimalists and loudly by maximalists, suited equally to a school run and a black-tie evening. The motif has shown up in textile traditions across centuries: Persian miniatures, French interiors, mid-century Italian fashion. We hand-block-print ours in two distinct palettes:

  • High-contrast leopard — deep black spots on cream cotton, the classic graphic version.
  • Brown leopard — earthy tans and warm browns, soft tonal layering for a quieter wardrobe.

Each spot is laid by hand using carved wooden blocks dipped in dye — mass-produced leopard prints are photo-stamped at industrial speed and look identical. Ours don't, on purpose.

How to style leopard

Leopard does the work in any outfit. Pair it with:

  • All-black for evenings — especially with velvet, the leopard reads as quietly luxurious.
  • Denim and a white tee for daytime — the print is the statement, everything else stays calm.
  • Cream linen for sun-drenched travel — the brown leopard especially works against natural tones.
  • Tonal layering — leopard with camel, cream, or chocolate creates a quiet, considered look.

Choosing between cotton and velvet

Who it's for

Leopard is the gift for the friend with a colour-block wardrobe who needs one statement piece, the partner who loves objects with personality, the friend heading off on a holiday. It's a print that ages well — worn five years in, it still reads as confidently classic.

Care — keeping yours for years

Cotton leopard pieces: machine wash cool, line dry, iron on low. The cotton softens with each wash. Don't tumble dry on high.

Velvet leopard pieces: spot-clean with a damp cloth. Hang to refresh the pile. Avoid the machine, which flattens velvet over time.

What to expect from hand-printed leopard

Each leopard spot is placed by hand. Look closely and you'll see small variations — a slightly larger spot here, a touch of bleed there, a colour that sank deeper into one weave than another. These are not flaws — they're the signature of real handcraft. Mass-produced leopard prints have identical spots; ours don't.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the leopard print hand-printed?

Yes — each leopard spot is laid by hand using carved wooden blocks dipped in dye. Mass-produced leopard prints are photo-stamped at industrial speed; ours are not.

What's the difference between the high-contrast and brown leopard?

The high-contrast leopard is bold black-on-cream, the classic graphic version. The brown leopard uses earthier tans and warm browns — quieter, more tonal, better for everyday wardrobes.

What's the difference between cotton and velvet leopard?

Cotton is lighter, washable, and designed for everyday carry. Velvet is plush, deeper in pigment, and designed for occasion use — the spots catch light differently as the pile sits.

Are the cotton pieces machine washable?

Yes — cotton leopard pieces machine wash cool, line dry. Velvet pieces require spot-cleaning.

Which piece should I start with?

For everyday cotton, The Brown Leopard Tote. For occasion velvet, The Velvet Leopard Weekender. For matching travel, the Velvet Leopard 3 Piece Travel Set.

Is leopard print suited to evening wear?

Yes — especially the velvet leopard. The plush hand-feel reads as quietly luxurious against black or cashmere, equally at home at a dinner as it is on the school run.

Where is it made?

Hand-block-printed and hand-quilted by skilled artisans in small workshops in Rajasthan, India. Fair wage, ethical production. 10% of every purchase funds artisan welfare and education in the same communities.
